About Lucy 

"I went to my first yoga class at the age of 26 after my mum insisted it would do me good, she was right.

I tried many styles and many teachers over the years and at the age of 40, after the birth of my child, I decided to re-train to share the benefits of how a regular yoga practice can help calm and restore and bring more comfort to the body.

I am fortunate to have been trained and influenced in my teaching by Debbie Farrar, Peter Blackaby and Godfrey Devereux.

I continue to search out new ways of moving and movement patterns that compliment a yoga practice".

What kind of Yoga
& FAQ's

 

"I teach a functional form of yoga, where movements and postures encourage more comfort and ease through the whole body. You can develop strength, muscle tone and greater flexibility, but that's a generous by-product of a nourishing yoga practice, with the emphasis on finding more comfort in the joints and more fluid movement. There will be gentle postures, some flowing sequences, breathing techniques and relaxation in each class.

Feeling more comfortable within ourselves and the ability to notice where we hold on to tensions is a lot more important than striking a pose,  I encourage people to back away from pushing themselves towards making shapes that their bodies aren't ready for and instead to find ways of expressing a posture that is appropriate for their body and as a consequence, all my classes are suitable for people stepping onto a yoga mat for the first time.  

Hopefully, people leave feeling a little more accepting of themselves, a little better than they did before."

"I have some yoga mats, blocks and blankets, but once you know you like it, I'd recommend you buy a mat."

YOGA AT HOME

A little bit goes a long way

"It can feel overwhelming to try and find the time for a home practice. But rather than thinking you need to find a whole hour, try 10 or 15 minutes to begin with. And those few minutes can be taken up with noticing how you'rebreathing, noticing how you're standing and noticing how you're feeling in your body. That's a good place to start."

Yoga style

" Something lose and comfortable, with a waist band that won't dig in or fall down. Bra straps can be killers when lying on a mat, so a sports bra is a good idea and socks and a warm jumper for the relaxation at the end."
